The following list of websites contains information that may be useful to organisations working with volunteers.


Community Network For Manchester
Links together neighbourhoods and areas of the city with communities of common interest and concern, in order to release our people power in shaping the future of the city.

Environment Network
Website of the environment community of common interest of the Community Network for Manchester

Community Technical Aid Centre
CTAC assists community and voluntary groups to develop and implement projects to improve their local environment or community facilities. Free advice, designs and costings are available to groups in the Greater Manchester area.

Eastserve
Eastserve is a community portal site for East Manchester. It delivers government and community services online 24 hours a day to the residents of East Manchester.

GMCVO
The Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation offers a range of services and projects that aim to improve the effectiveness of voluntary and community groups in the county of Greater Manchester

The Green Fish Partnership
A partnership between 3 voluntary sector support agencies: VAM, Community Accountancy Service and Community Technical Aid Centre.

Hearing Voices Network
A project managed by VAM which helps voice hearers to find their own ways of coming to terms with their experience.

HLMinfo
Provides a single point of access to community information for local people in Harpurhey, Lightbowne and Moston. Aims to support voluntary and community groups to develop web based content and services.

Manchester Area Resource Centre (MARC)
Provide a range of services available for small businesses as well as voluntary organisations, providing very competitive printing and design costs, especially on short print runs (under 5,000).

Manchester City Council

Manchester Community Information Network (MCIN)
Helps communities to develop community portal sites, provides training, offers a web design and support service to all types of organisations to help them gain a web presence, gives technical advice and support and offers consultancy services.

Manchester Council for Community Relations
MCCR exists to work towards the elimination of racial discrimination and to promote equality of opportunity and good relations between people of all ethnic origins within Manchester

MyManchester
This portal is targeted at Manchester's citizens and visitors. By visiting MyManchester, you can create a link to your own organisation's website, advertise jobs and events, and take part in forums.

Progress Trust
To enhance the social and economic regeneration of Manchester by integrating and valuing the strengths of black and ethnic minority communities.

Workers’ Educational Association – North West District
WEA is a network organisation, offering many ways of learning and participating.

National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO)
The umbrella body for the voluntary sector in England.

Community Service Volunteers (CSV)
CSV is a national volunteering organisation which tackles social exclusion. It offers activities in volunteering, training, education and the media.

Energise
This is a US-based site offering a range of resources for workers in the voluntary sector. This includes a free 130 page book The Virtual Volunteering Handbook.

Institute for Volunteering Research
This site provides the latest facts and figures on volunteering.

National Association of Volunteer Bureau (NAVB)
NAVB represents and supports a national network of volunteer bureaux throughout England. They do not assist volunteers directly.

National Centre for Volunteering
A Range of services designed to support volunteer managers and organisations that involve volunteers.

Timebank
The Timebank website is part of a BBC supported campaign to encourage people to volunteer.

UK Volunteer Program Managers
UKVPM provides an e-discussion group on volunteering issues. It enables managers of volunteers to consult with other workers in the volunteering sector.
